Q: It’s an honor to speak with you today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, my name is Zachary Foust, and I am a real estate agent and team leader for Loft Realty in Dover, Delaware. Our company takes immense pride in being veteran owned and operated. Before delving into the real estate industry, I spent eight years serving in the US Army, including a tour in Afghanistan. Following my military service, I found myself in a diverse range of career paths, from working with the prison system to installing police lights for law enforcement vehicles. However, destiny had other plans for me, and now, seven years later, we are thrilled to be the number one Google-reviewed real estate company in the entire state of Delaware.
Q: Why did you decide to follow a career in real estate?
Believe it or not, my entry into the real estate world was somewhat serendipitous. Another agent in the area persistently tried to convince me to become a realtor, but I declined her offer multiple times. However, she surprised me one evening by informing me that she had already signed me up for the real estate class, which was starting the very next day. I had no idea she hadn’t paid for it until I arrived, and it left me draining my bank account to cover the cost. Yet, this twist of fate led me down the path of real estate, and I haven’t looked back since.
Q: As a real estate professional, what is one of the challenges you face in the industry? How do you overcome them?
As a real estate professional, one of the most significant challenges we encounter is maintaining consistent effort and dedication. It’s easy to get carried away by the excitement of showing luxurious million-dollar homes or creating entertaining videos. However, the true key to success lies in doing the ordinary things extraordinarily well, day in and day out. Building a thriving business demands an unwavering commitment to the basics and consistently doing what is right. While it may not always be as glamorous, this consistency is the bedrock of our accomplishments.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your day-to-day job?
What I cherish the most about my day-to-day job is the people I get to work with. It goes beyond just our valued clients; it extends to the incredible team at Loft Realty. Our company boasts a unique culture that sets us apart not just in the real estate world, but in the business world as a whole. I couldn’t be prouder of the amazing individuals who make up our team, and as we continue to grow, our teamwork remains at the heart of our success.
Q: Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Certainly! At Loft Realty, we have had the privilege of closing over 200 units this year in Delaware, making our mark as a veteran owned and operated company. Our services cater to a diverse clientele, including military buyers and sellers, as well as investors who are gradually recognizing the potential and growth in the state of Delaware.
Q: What career goals do you have for the next five years? What’s next for you?
Over the next five years, our aim is to surpass being the number one real estate team in Delaware by three years, achieving this milestone by the end of 2025. Beyond that, we are determined to expand our efforts and systemize operations in multiple states, replicating the success we’ve achieved in Delaware.
Q: What’s a myth about real estate?
One of the most common misconceptions about real estate is the belief that it’s all about showing homes like it’s an episode of HGTV. While that aspect is certainly part of the job, the reality is that a significant amount of time and effort goes into the behind-the-scenes work, such as research, negotiations, paperwork, and maintaining strong client relationships.
