A conversation with William Wilson

We recently had a chance to sit down and chat with Nashville Real Estate Agent William Wilson.

Q: It’s an honor to speak with you today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

My name is William Wilson. Nashville Native & Real Estate Broker at THG/William Wilson Homes. I work with buyers & sellers and serve all of Tennessee! We also offer Real Estate Consulting regarding Land, Lots, Residential, and Commercial.

Q: Why did you decide to follow a career in real estate?

One of my mentors has been in the real estate game for over 30 years and advised that I try my hand at real estate. I began in 2016 and from continually studying and mastering my craft I’ve developed passion for assisting people to discover financial freedom by investing in real estate.

Q: As a real estate professional, what is one of the challenges you face in the industry? How do you overcome them?

One of the current hurdles in the real estate climate now is the lack of inventory. The market isn’t impossible for buyers, but it takes more patience and discipline for first time home owners. It’s disheartening seeing how this competitive market is forcing so many great buyer candidates to lose faith, but if you create a plan and execute it, you will be fine.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your day-to-day job?

I find joy in educating individuals about real estate and financial literacy. From being in real estate and seeing first hand how owning & investing in real estate can generate substantial returns, I feel a sense of obligation to share my knowledge because this information isn’t easily attainable in school. My joy in this industry stems from my clients and friends finding joy and happiness from learning from me. My passion is helping people become educated in real estate, credit, loans, etc. and helping them create generation wealth for their family.

Q: Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

I closed my first real estate deal in 2017, since then I personally have helped over 100 families & individuals become homeowners. As a Real Estate Broker, I have a team of knowledgeable & motivated agents on the William Wilson Homes Team. The licensed real estate agents on my team are Jonathan Nolan, Madison LeBlanc, Michelle Vida & Sam Robinson. We are dedicated to assisting our clients professionally well beyond the closing table and creating everlasting relationships.

Q: What career goals do you have for the next five years? What’s next for you?

Over the next five years I would like to expand my real estate education reach beyond just Tennessee. I am working on incorporating a curriculum of real estate education & financial literacy into metro high schools in the Nashville area.

Q: What’s a myth about real estate?

Some of the biggest myths about real estate that I hear on a regular basis is that you need 20% to buy a home & also that buying a home is a very hard task. You need 3%-5% of the purchase price to purchase a home & if your credit is over 620 you can qualify down payment assistance; where you can buy a home with little to nothing down. I hear buying a home is a very hard task, but when individuals create a plan, write it down and execute it with discipline & passion, its very feasible.
